PHYSIOTHERAPY

Physiotherapy Goals

Physiotherapy is a professional, highly credible and natural medical treatment option. The primary focus of physiotherapy is the restoration of function. Physiotherapists assess and diagnose the problem, then plan and administer treatment programs that aim to restore function or minimise dysfunction after disease or injury.

Cairns Total Physiotherapy strive to improve an individual’s quality of life by physical means. A combination of manual therapy, movement training, exercise programs, physical and electrotherapy agents are used to achieve this.

The Science of Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is science-based, committed to extending, applying, evaluating and reviewing the evidence that underpins and informs its practice and delivery. Physiotherapy is a ‘hands on’ manual therapy and one of the best proven approaches for the treatment of joints, muscles, tendons, nerves and ligaments. As well as practising a wide range of manual techniques, our Physiotherapists are also trained in the use of electrotherapy. Electrotherapy includes the use of Ultrasound, Laser, Interferential and TENS.

What does a Physiotherapist do?

Once evaluated, the therapist can develop a treatment program that will usually involve some form of manual therapy and exercise, as well as modalities if necessary. You will also receive instruction in a home exercise program as well as education on body mechanics and posture in order to prevent the reoccurrence of your original injury.
