Kylie Sommerville
Physiotherapist providing oneโonโone home visit physiotherapy across Cairns and the Northern Beaches.
Kylie holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from The University of Queensland (graduated 1987) and a Master of Health Administration from the University of New South Wales (1998). She has been registered with AHPRA since 1987, bringing several decades of clinical experience across acute care, rehabilitation and communityโbased physiotherapy settings.
Clinically, Kylie commonly supports people with:
- Postโsurgical rehabilitation following hip and knee joint replacements
- Orthopaedic injuries, fractures and complex multiโtrauma
- Neurological rehabilitation following stroke, Parkinsonโs disease and paraplegia
- Cardiorespiratory and cardiacโrelated conditions
- Functional decline and balance impairment
- Musculoskeletal conditions including cervical spine presentations
Kylie takes a thorough and structured physiotherapy approach, beginning with detailed assessment of posture, movement, strength, range of motion and pain. Treatment programs are tailored to each individual and may include handsโon mobilisation techniques, massage, targeted exercise therapy, balance and coordination training, gait reโeducation and hydrotherapy where appropriate.
With extensive experience in acute hospital, rehabilitation and community settings, Kylie places strong emphasis on safe progression, functional independence and supporting people to return to daily activities with confidence. Her oneโonโone homeโbased sessions allow care to be delivered in a familiar and practical environment.
Outside of work, Kylie enjoys daily walking and travelling. She has visited six continents, including Antarctica, and has a strong passion for sport, particularly netball, having attended multiple World Cups and Commonwealth Games.
